When the trial or update entitlement ends

When the trial ends, BeePanel locks its features but keeps every piece of data and configuration, and a purchased license brings them back. When a purchased license's update entitlement ends, nothing locks: BeePanel keeps working and only newer releases cannot be installed.

When the trial ends

The trial ends exactly 15 days after you confirmed its email, whether or not the server was online. Management > License shows its end time while it runs.

At the end:

  • the live panel, call actions, wallboard, call history, recordings, and reports lock, and so do the management pages such as Status, Users, Settings, and Endpoints;
  • call history stops collecting new calls;
  • users, settings, and all collected data stay on the server;
  • signing in, the License page, beepanel license, beepanel password, and uninstalling keep working.

To continue, buy a license and activate its key on the License page; see Trial and license activation. You can do this before the trial ends; the license then replaces the trial at once.

  • With a Pro license, everything returns, and call history fills the gap from the CEL records the PBX still keeps. Records the PBX has already deleted cannot be recovered.
  • With a Standard license, the call history and queue data from the trial stay on the server, hidden, and the License page says Your Pro data is retained. A later Pro license brings them back.

Other reasons BeePanel locks

The License page always states why features are locked. Data and configuration are kept in every case.

Message on the License page What to do
No valid entitlement is installed, so licensed features are locked. Activate a license key.
The installed entitlement expired, so licensed features are locked. The message ends with the end time. The trial ended; activate a license key.
The licensing service reported this activation released or superseded, so licensed features are locked. The license was released or moved to another server; see Moving a license to another server.
This host no longer matches the recorded machine identity. Refresh the binding to restore licensed features. Choose Refresh machine binding. During a trial this is not possible; the trial stays locked until it ends or a license is activated.
The installation identity behind this entitlement is gone. Enter the license key again to rebind this machine. Enter the license key under Activate a license key. A trial cannot be recovered this way.
The host clock is behind the recorded trial mark. Correct the clock to restore licensed features; the trial keeps its original expiry. Correct the server's clock; the lock clears by itself and the trial gains no time. If the clock had run ahead before, the lock clears only once real time reaches that point.

The trial also ends for good when BeePanel is removed with beepanel uninstall --delete-data; reinstalling cannot resume it. A normal uninstall keeps it. See Uninstalling BeePanel.

When the update entitlement ends

Every license includes one year of updates. When that ends:

  • BeePanel and every feature of the license keep working, without a time limit;
  • releases published after the end date cannot be installed;
  • Management > Status shows the date under Update entitlement in amber with a note, and the License page shows it under Updates through;
  • beepanel update stops with cause: the requested release is newer than the signed update entitlement and changes nothing.

To install newer releases, renew the update entitlement; see Pricing.
