Frequently asked questions
Compatibility
Which systems does BeePanel work with?
BeePanel works with Asterisk-based systems, including FreePBX, Issabel, and custom Asterisk installations. Asterisk 12 and newer is the modern baseline. Older releases may work through a legacy profile. For each setup we publish a tested compatibility label instead of promising a single oldest version.
What do the Certified, Compatible, and Legacy labels mean?
They describe the evidence available for an exact setup. Certified combinations have release-acceptance coverage in the published test matrix. Compatible means BeePanel discovers and passes the required capabilities, but the combination is outside that certified matrix. Legacy means compatibility behavior is available with documented limitations.
Will BeePanel change my current setup?
BeePanel never overwrites the core configuration your PBX manages. If a supported installation change is required, setup shows the exact privileged plan, asks for approval, verifies the result, and records what is needed for rollback. The PBX remains the owner of call routing.
Does BeePanel have to run on the same machine as my PBX?
It can do either. The same machine is the simplest and recommended setup. BeePanel can also run on a separate machine that reaches your PBX over the network. The setup wizard walks you through both options.
Can I use BeePanel with a system that is not Asterisk?
Not in the first release. BeePanel is built for Asterisk-based systems today. Support for other platforms may come later, but it is not available now.
Licensing and trial
How is BeePanel licensed?
One license covers one BeePanel installation connected to one PBX. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, and it is not priced per user, per extension, or per agent.
What does the price include, and what is renewal?
Your license is perpetual: it keeps working, and it works offline once activated. The first year of updates is included. After that, an optional update plan costs 25% of the license price per year. Skip it and BeePanel keeps running; you just stop receiving new versions.
How does the free trial work?
Every new installation can start a 15-day trial with all Pro features, with nothing to pay to begin. When the trial ends, the installation and saved state are retained. Enter a license key to continue where you left off.
What happens when the trial ends?
Your data is never deleted. Live features, call actions, history, recordings, and reports are locked, and new call history stops being collected. You can still sign in, manage your license, run diagnostics, take a backup, and uninstall. Activating a license restores the features in that edition and resumes history from the saved checkpoint.
Can I move my license to another server?
Yes. When you migrate to a new machine, your license can be re-hosted to it. Restoring a backup checks its integrity first, and moving to another machine uses re-hosting rather than copying an activation.
If I start on Standard, can I upgrade to Pro later?
Yes. Upgrading unlocks Pro features and builds full call detail from the normalized events BeePanel retained while running Standard. Calls from before BeePanel began collecting history can be included only when the original source records are still available for ingestion.
Data and privacy
Where is my call data stored?
On your own server. BeePanel installs on hardware you control, and your calls, recordings, and history stay there. Using BeePanel does not send this information to us.
Does BeePanel send anything back to you?
BeePanel does not report product usage or system health to us. Only licensing actions you initiate exchange disclosed licensing metadata, and an explicit beepanel update downloads signed release files over HTTPS; neither sends call data.
Can BeePanel show calls from before I installed it?
Often, yes. BeePanel builds history from the call records your system already keeps, so earlier calls can appear if those records are still on your server. How far back you can see depends on how long your system keeps them. BeePanel reads these records; it does not create or delete them.
Who can listen to recordings?
Only the people you allow. Listening and downloading are separate permissions, and recordings appear on the call they belong to. Every action is checked on the server for each person, and privileged actions are written to an audit trail.
What does BeePanel provide for KVKK and GDPR processes?
The customer installation stores call data, recordings, users, audit records, and backups; it does not send them to the licensing platform. BeePanel provides accounts, permissions, scopes, and audit records that support your own KVKK and GDPR obligations. Licensing exchanges disclosed licensing metadata only, and the installed product has no usage or health reporting channel. Full privacy details will be published with the first release.
Installation and operations
How do I install BeePanel?
A small terminal bootstrap starts installation, then a browser wizard guides you through creating an administrator, discovering PBX capabilities, configuring optional history and recording access, reviewing required changes, licensing, and final health checks.
Do I need to be a Linux expert?
No. The command starts the installer, and the rest happens through a guided web setup with clear steps. If something needs to change on your server, BeePanel shows you exactly what it will do before doing it.
Does BeePanel run with full administrator rights?
No. BeePanel runs as a restricted service with only the access it needs. Anything that requires higher privileges is shown to you as a clear plan first and applied through a separate, narrow step.
Does queue-agent management change my PBX configuration?
No. BeePanel uses Asterisk runtime queue actions. It can pause or resume existing members and add or remove eligible dynamic members, but it does not edit FreePBX-, Issabel-, or PBX-managed queue files. Static members remain managed by the PBX, and dynamic membership persistence after a restart follows the PBX queue settings already in effect.
Can I turn on call history later?
Yes. Collecting history is optional. Turn it on during setup or any time afterward, when you are ready, without reinstalling.
How do backups and updates work?
BeePanel provides manual and scheduled backups plus verification and restore workflows. Signed updates require administrator approval, preflight, a verified backup, health checks, and a disclosed rollback boundary. BeePanel never deletes calls or audit records to recover disk space; it warns you and pauses history ingestion without losing its checkpoint.
